Pashinyan announced the resignation of the Armenian government

The Government of Armenia will resign on August 2 in connection with the formation of a new cabinet of ministers following the parliamentary elections held on June 7.

As local media report, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced this today at a government session.

"We will resign on Sunday (August 2 - ed.). Today is the last government session in this composition," the prime minister stated.

He reminded that on the day of the first session of the National Assembly in its new composition, the old government submits its resignation:

"After that, the President of Armenia will appoint the candidate from the party holding the majority in the National Assembly to the post of prime minister."

It should be noted that in the parliamentary elections on June 7, the ruling "Civil Contract" party, which Pashinyan represents, won and gained the right to independently form a new government.
