Legendary former footballer of "Milan" and the Italian national team Franco Baresi has passed away

Legendary Italian footballer Franco Baresi passed away on July 31 at the age of 66. The death of the former AC Milan captain was announced by the club's press service. Earlier, media reports had indicated that the former defender was experiencing serious health problems.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to AC Milan's press service, on July 29 Italian publications had already circulated reports of Baresi's death. However, the club denied the information at that time, noting that the footballer was going through "a difficult period." Two days later, his passing was confirmed.

Baresi spent virtually his entire professional career at AC Milan, whose colors he defended from 1978 to 1997. During that time, he won the Italian championship six times, the Italian Super Cup four times, the Champions League three times, and the UEFA Super Cup once.

Baresi played 81 matches for the Italian national team. In 1982, he became a World Cup champion. In addition, the defender won a silver medal at the 1994 World Cup and a bronze medal at the 1990 World Cup.

Franco Baresi is considered one of the greatest legends in the history of AC Milan and Italian football. His career at the club spanned nearly two decades.
