The Louvre reopened to visitors three days after the robbery
The Louvre in Paris has reopened its doors to visitors after a three-day closure caused by a large-scale robbery. This was reported by the French TV channel LCI, citing the museum administration.
Visiting the "Apollo Gallery," from where the jewels were stolen, is not yet possible - the area remains closed.
According to preliminary data, the perpetrators stole nine valuable exhibits from Napoleon III's collection, including a necklace, brooch, and tiara. There is a possibility that the stolen artifacts may be sold on the black market or melted down.
During the investigation, a damaged crown belonging to Empress Eugenie, the wife of Napoleon III, was found near the museum. However, the main exhibit of the collection - the famous "Regent" diamond weighing more than 140 carats - remained intact.
The Paris prosecutor's office has opened a criminal case and assigned the investigation to the "Brigade for Combating Banditry" together with the Central Office for Combating Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Property. The search for the criminals continues.
