On August 13, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to our country, Dirk Lölke.

As reported by AZERTAC, the ambassador presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.

The head of state had a conversation with the ambassador.

Recalling with satisfaction his official visit to Germany last month, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that productive discussions on bilateral relations and international issues were held with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Friedrich Merz during the visit. He noted the convergence of views between our countries on regional stability, security, and development. Stating that new areas of potential cooperation were identified during the discussions, leading to mutual understanding and the development of partnership, the head of state emphasized the importance of the "Joint Declaration on the Strategic Agenda of Bilateral Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Republic of Germany" signed in Berlin. He said that the document elevated bilateral relations to a qualitatively higher level.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that today we are already speaking about strategic interconnections in many areas, and the existing opportunities in the fields of trade, investment, and business are strengthening bilateral relations. The head of state emphasized that the ambassador is beginning his activities in Azerbaijan following his official visit to Germany, noting that this is very important from the perspective of further development of bilateral relations.

The head of state wished the ambassador success in his activities.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Dirk Lölke congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the first anniversary of the Summit between Azerbaijan and Armenia, held on August 8 of last year in Washington.

The head of state, in turn, once again emphasized that the peace agenda in the region was initiated precisely by Azerbaijan. He stated that our country will continue its efforts to advance the peace agenda, and peace in the region is already irreversible.

The ambassador noted that the German government is very pleased with the results of President Ilham Aliyev's visit. He expressed hope for the earliest possible implementation of the discussed initiatives.

During the meeting, relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union were discussed, and the positive dynamics observed in their development recently were emphasized.

Issues related to the East-West transport corridor and the use of this route by German companies in the future, as well as prospects for cooperation in the fields of traditional and renewable energy and education, were also addressed.
