Ships flying above water spotted in the Baltic Sea
In the Baltic Sea, off the coast of the Kaliningrad region of Russia, "flying Dutchmen" have appeared.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this is according to the Telegram channel Amber Mash.
The published photographs show vessels that appear to be hovering in the air, above the water surface. The publication states that such an optical illusion occurs when layers of cold and warm air refract light.
Similar mirages are also called "fata morgana" - named after the fairy Morgana from the cycle of legends about King Arthur. Fata morgana occurs due to several alternating layers of air of different densities with a mirror effect.
As a result, objects located far beyond the horizon produce distorted images that can bizarrely overlap each other and change rapidly, stirring the observer's imagination.
