The Emir of Qatar and the President of the United States discussed de-escalation between Washington and Tehran

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone conversation during which they discussed efforts to reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran.

This was reported by the office of the head of the Arab state.

The parties reviewed the latest developments in the region, in particular steps toward de-escalation between the United States and Iran and the rapprochement of their positions, which, as noted, increases the chances of achieving a sustainable diplomatic settlement of the crisis.

According to the statement, Trump highly appreciated Qatar's role in supporting diplomatic efforts and facilitating dialogue between the parties to strengthen regional security.

For his part, the Emir of Qatar emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue and the parties' commitment to implementing the U.S.-Iranian memorandum of understanding. He also noted the need to support international initiatives aimed at reducing tensions.

In addition, the parties confirmed the importance of further coordination on regional and international issues.
