Hikmet Hajiyev: Removing Territorial Claims from Armenia's Constitution Will Remove Obstacles to the Peace Treaty
The article providing for territorial claims against Azerbaijan, as well as against Turkey, must be excluded from the Constitution of Armenia.
This was stated by the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan – head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev in his commentary to the Turkish TV channel Haber Global.
According to him, incoming signals indicate that the process of adopting a new constitution is beginning in Armenia.
"After these territorial claims are excluded from the constitution, Azerbaijan sees no problems for signing a final peace treaty. Moreover, a de facto peaceful situation already exists in our region," Hajiyev said.
The presidential assistant also touched upon the fraternal relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan:
"At the table where Turkey is absent, Azerbaijan is present, and at the table where Azerbaijan is absent, Turkey is present. We firmly respond to every step directed against the interests of our countries, and this will continue in the future."
