Mountaineer Frankie McMillan has conquered more than 700 mountain peaks, although he is only nine years old today. The portal What's the Jam? reported about the young athlete.

McMillan began climbing at the age of three. This summer, he conquered ten of the highest peaks in Europe, including Gerlachovský štít in Slovakia (2655 m), Rysy in Poland (2499 m), and Sněžka in the Czech Republic (1603 m).

In three weeks, Frankie, along with his mother Basia, climbed 15 mountains, 11 of which exceeded 2000 meters in height. The ascent to the Tatra mountain range in Poland was especially important for Basia, as she had long dreamed of it.

"When we were sitting at the summit, I told Frankie 'I can't believe I'm here - and with you, and you're only nine. This has always been something that I thought only experienced mountaineers could do,'" Basia shared.

According to Frankie's mom, the boy is now more confident in his own abilities than she is. "He started rock climbing at three and has spent most of his life in the mountains," she explained. Mother and son had to overcome truly difficult challenges. On the way to the summit of Mount Mnich, they had to climb a vertical rock tower using ropes. The ascent and descent from Rysy took them 12 hours.

The Slovak authorities only allow climbers with special permits and experienced guides to access Gerlachovský štít. "It was the most technical activity we have ever undertaken, but Frankie really enjoyed it," said Basia.

Frankie and Basia hope to continue their mountain adventures next summer; they are not afraid of early rises, long treks, or even the risk of encountering bears. The Athlete Media Group will support the nine-year-old mountaineer, having recently signed a contract with McMillan. Frankie became the only child with whom the group collaborates. He will promote a healthy and active lifestyle, inspiring others to spend more time outdoors. "This will open up many opportunities for him," Basia is confident.
