In France, a ban on social media use by children under 15 has been adopted

The National Assembly and the Senate of France have supported a bill on protecting minors from the threats of social media, which provides for a ban on the use of social networks for children under 15 years of age.

In the National Assembly, 279 deputies voted in favor of the bill, with 81 against, while in the Senate, 243 parliamentarians supported the bill, with only two voting against.

Later, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the adoption of the law on the social network X.

"I made a promise, and now the law has been adopted: starting from the beginning of the school year, social networks will be banned for children under 15. Thank you to the deputies. Now it is up to the Constitutional Council, and then concrete actions to implement this measure and protect our children online," he wrote.

This measure in the bill requires social networks to implement age verification mechanisms for their users to prevent their use by children. In addition, it requires social networks to delete the accounts of users who are under 15 years of age. The bill also introduces a "digital curfew" for users aged 15 to 18, limiting their time spent on internet resources.

It should be noted that the law will come into effect on September 1.
