Internet shutdown recorded in Iran amid protests
NetBlocks international internet monitoring service recorded a drop in internet connectivity in Tehran and several other cities in Iran amid ongoing protests in the country.
As BAKU.WS reports, this is stated in the service's message on the social network X.
"Network data shows that Tehran and other parts of Iran are currently plunging into digital darkness, as connectivity has been cut off for several providers at once," the publication states.
According to Cloudflare, the volume of IPv6 protocol traffic in the country first decreased by almost 98.5%, and then disappeared altogether. This protocol is often used to bypass restrictions, and its disappearance may indicate targeted measures by the authorities.
Iranian officials have not announced any planned restrictions.
