The number of deaths due to large-scale floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in Central Vietnam has risen to 90, with another 12 people listed as missing.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to TASS, this was announced by the Department of Dam Management and Natural Disaster Prevention at the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Vietnam.

According to the department, due to the heavy rains that have been continuing for a week, causing severe flooding and numerous landslides, the most damage has been recorded in the provinces of Daklak, Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai and Lam Dong. More than 1,100 private homes, schools and administrative buildings have been destroyed and damaged there, with about 200,000 flooded. Due to the flooding, 24 sections of national highways were submerged and damaged by landslides, which seriously disrupted road and rail communications within the central part of the country and with its other regions.
