In St. Petersburg, 10 thousand migrants will be left without work in taxi and delivery services

In St. Petersburg, thousands of migrants will be deprived of work in taxi and delivery services. This is reported by "Fontanka" with reference to the deputy head of the labor committee Tatyana Morozkova.
According to her, last year in St. Petersburg, over 200,000 work permits were issued to migrants: 1.6% of them were for taxi drivers, and 3.4% for couriers. According to "Fontanka," this amounts to approximately 10,000 people.
"But we understand that taxi drivers and couriers also work under other permits - as auxiliary workers. And employers hire them under different permits," added Morozkova.
She emphasized that the ban on migrants working in taxi and delivery services will not affect the economy of the cultural capital.
On August 11, migrants in St. Petersburg were banned from working in the courier delivery sector.
It was noted that this applies to all types of courier activities, including delivery using transport. Courier positions may be of interest to high school and college students. Government representatives added that the innovations will not affect the stability of the delivery market, as foreign citizens make up an insignificant share of the total number of couriers in the city.
The ban on foreigners working in the taxi sector became known at the end of July.
