The United States Armed Forces are ready to resume strikes against Iran if negotiations on Tehran's nuclear program fail.

As reported by Reuters, this was stated by U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, speaking at the Shangri-La international security forum in Singapore.

Hegseth said that on Friday he spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump. According to the secretary, the administration is prepared to walk away from negotiations if Iran refuses to accept restrictions on its nuclear ambitions.

Hegseth noted that during the conversation, Trump told him that "any deal is going to be a good one. A great one." The president emphasized that "if Iran doesn't want to make a great deal that ensures they don't get a nuclear weapon, deal with the guy to my left," referring to the Secretary of War, the Pentagon chief added.

"We are more than capable," Hegseth stated, speaking about a potential resumption of military action.

"Our stockpiles are more than adequate for that both there and around the world," he indicated.

The Pentagon chief's statement came just hours after Trump held a meeting with administration members in the Situation Room, where further steps in the negotiations with Iran were discussed.
