Guterres: UN humanitarian activities on the verge of collapse

The UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated that the humanitarian activities of the organization are "on the verge of collapse" due to growing needs and reduced funding.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to TASS, he made this statement while presenting his proposals for reforming the UN humanitarian component.
"Humanitarian activities are on the verge of collapse. The needs are higher than ever, yet funding for UN system humanitarian operations is declining. The time has come for bold, systemic changes," said Guterres at the General Assembly meeting on the "UN-80" initiative.
He also spoke about a new humanitarian pact, which is a six-point plan aimed at "delivering aid faster, at lower cost, and with greater reliability." It includes a new "Joint Humanitarian Diplomacy Initiative" to ensure a unified UN position, reducing bureaucracy by simplifying response plans, and integrating the supply chains of key humanitarian agencies for more cost-effective procurement and logistics.
Additionally, it proposes expanding the use of common services - from office spaces to vehicle fleets and security systems - for agencies such as the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the World Food Programme, UNICEF, and the International Organization for Migration. The plan also includes the creation of a new "Joint Humanitarian Data Center" and eliminating duplication of programs in the areas of food, health, and nutrition.
