Customs authorities' powers will be expanded in Azerbaijan
The powers of customs authorities will be expanded in Azerbaijan.
This issue is reflected in the draft amendments to the Customs Code.
According to the draft law, customs authorities will have the right to immediately make a decision to lift restrictions after establishing that the grounds that served as the reason for the temporary restriction of a foreign trade participant's right to leave the country have been eliminated.
In addition, the duties of customs authorities will include verifying the availability of vehicle admission cards for international transportation issued to operators for carrying out road transportation between Azerbaijan and foreign states; "permit forms" (journals) issued to foreign carriers; permits for the movement of oversized and/or heavy vehicles on public roads; as well as data and documents accepted at state border crossing points in cases established by the relevant executive authority.
Furthermore, the duties of the said authorities will include providing a copy of the report drawn up based on the results of an on-site customs audit, and a copy of the decision made based on the review of on-site customs audit materials, to the person subject to the customs audit (or their representative), in written form, including electronic form, within three business days from the date of drawing up the report and making the decision, respectively.
