Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva visited the Khan Mosque in Sheki
Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Association Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva visited the Khan Mosque as part of their trip to the city of Sheki.
As reported by BAKU.WS, during the visit, the imam of the mosque Vugar Mammadov provided Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva with detailed information about the Khan Mosque complex. It was noted that the Sheki Khan Mosque, dating back to the 18th century, is one of the important religious-cultural and historical-architectural monuments of the city. According to historical data and inscriptions on the mosque building, it was built by Haji Muhammad Husayn Khan.
It was noted that the restoration work at the historic Sheki Khan Mosque was carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. A museum has also been established on the territory of the mosque complex. It displays exhibits dating back to the period of the Sheki Khanate, as well as samples of material culture collected from various sources.
The museum vividly demonstrates the special place of the creation and formation of the Sheki Khanate in the history of our national statehood.
In conclusion, Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva were presented with the Holy Quran as a gift.
