SOCAR Trading: BTC remains the safest export route in the region
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline remains a safer and more valuable export route for the region.
As Report informs, this was stated by SOCAR Trading's Commercial Director Taghi Taghizade, speaking at the II Forum on Oil Logistics and Trade in the Caspian and Central Asian Regions in Baku.
According to him, the advantages of the pipeline are driven by a number of key factors. "Such parameters as straits, oil quality, transportation timelines, transportation costs, pricing, and insurance costs make BTC a safer and more valuable export route for the region," he noted.
Taghizade added that, according to estimates from Kazakh partners, transportation costs amount to approximately 90 dollars on average. "This is related to the stages of transportation across the Caspian Sea, inland transportation, and subsequent delivery to the port of Ceyhan. Despite these complexities, for Kazakhstan, BTC remains more attractive compared to existing alternatives," he emphasized.
Taghizade also added that at this stage, the key issue is increasing transportation volumes.
