Final Ceasefire Agreement for Gaza Signed in Egypt
The final agreement on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip was signed in Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh.
The document was signed by the leaders of Turkey, Qatar, the USA and Egypt on the sidelines of the international Summit for establishing peace in the Middle East.
The event was attended by US President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"This is a tremendous day for peace, this is a tremendous day for the Middle East," said Trump.
The American president called the Gaza deal the largest and most complex. "They always talk about the third world war starting in the Middle East, but this will not happen," added Donald Trump. "We don't want it to start anywhere, it won't happen."
The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip came into effect on October 10. On October 13, Hamas handed over all 20 Israeli hostages to the staff of the International Committee of the Red Cross. The movement still has to transfer the bodies of 28 deceased hostages. Israel stated that it has released more than 1,900 Palestinian prisoners.
