Famous Turkish TV series on the verge of cancellation: new season's plot caused a major scandal

The popular Turkish series "Cranberry Sherbet" (Kızılcık Şerbeti), which airs on Show TV and consistently ranks at the top of ratings, has found itself at the center of a major scandal.

The cause was an episode in the 104th series: according to the plot, Doga, Fatih's wife, enters into a secret affair with Firaz - the husband of Nursema, Fatih's sister. For viewers, this became not just infidelity, but a truly forbidden love within the family.

The final scene of the episode only intensified the outrage: viewers were shown Doga and Firaz texting each other on their phones. The moment caused shock and heated discussion on social media, where fans share anger, dissatisfaction, and speculations about how events will develop. Many claim that such scenes undermine family values and set a bad example for young people. Singer Demet Akalın was particularly harsh, calling what happened "a disgrace and a sin."

Amid public pressure, the Turkish Radio and Television Council (RTÜK) intervened. Its chairman, Ebubekir Şahin, announced that the regulator has launched an official investigation and will examine all complaints received. Shortly after this, the promo video for the next episode was removed from all digital platforms.

According to journalist Birsen Altuntaş, the production company Gold Film has already decided to rewrite the script to reduce the tension. It is not yet known whether they will completely remove the Doga and Firaz storyline or just soften it. Nevertheless, viewers are awaiting this particular episode with special interest - the premiere is scheduled for Friday.

Additional tension was caused by a new scandal: old statements by screenwriter Merve Gentem about morality and youth behavior appeared online, which many found offensive. This gave critics another reason to demand a review of the approach to the series.
