Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on the geographical characteristics of a shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz.

As reported by Jazeera, this was announced by the official spokesperson of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei.

According to him, Tehran and Muscat are in the final stages of preparing a joint statement on the agreement reached.

He noted that the agreement will be announced on the condition that "certain third parties do not interfere in the process."

It was previously reported that Iran and Oman are jointly developing a new central route through the Strait of Hormuz that meets the interests of both sides, after the opening of which the southern and northern routes will be closed.
