Iran named the condition for opening the Strait of Hormuz

Iran may agree to open the Strait of Hormuz if the White House lifts sanctions against Tehran.

This was reported to the Fars agency by a source close to the negotiating team.

"Contrary to some speculation and media propaganda, the U.S. Treasury Department's removal of a small number of sanctions is related to the Iraqi government's engagement with Washington and has nothing to do with an agreement with Iran," the agency quoted the source as saying.

The publication also recalls that the United States violated the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which, it is claimed, contradicts the established navigation order in the Strait of Hormuz.

"Along with military actions and a naval blockade, the revocation of permits for the export of oil and petroleum products has restricted access to frozen Iranian assets. Restoring the situation to normal is only possible on the condition that Iran takes appropriate measures in the Strait of Hormuz and the United States genuinely fulfills its obligations," the source noted.

According to him, even if a final agreement is reached between Iran and Oman, the opening of the Strait of Hormuz will require additional measures, including the United States fulfilling its obligations.

It should be recalled that Iran and Oman had previously reached an agreement regarding the geographical features of the shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz.
