Divers found the wreckage of a ship with a treasure trove: it sank 350 years ago
Off the coast of Ireland, divers found the wreckage of a British ship that mysteriously sank in 1787. It contained a wealth of treasures.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Daily Express, 350 years ago the vessel was heading from Italy to Ireland. There were six people on board at that time. Three of them were the captain and his sons. They were all transporting expensive marble and bronze items belonging to Irish banker John La Touche.
However, at some point the ship was wrecked. And under very mysterious circumstances. There was also no one to tell the truth about what happened - none of the crew survived. As a result, the incident was forgotten for many years.
Now an expedition led by Edmond O'Byrne, a specialist in finding sunken ships, has found the vessel. It turned out to be located off the coast of Ireland at a depth of about 20 meters. After conducting an initial investigation, divers noticed that artifacts from past eras remained on the ship. These included a copper kettle and inkwells.
Now experts will study the sunken ship. O'Byrne suggests that it won't end with just inkwells. In his opinion, other valuables could have remained and survived there. Despite the time that has passed. In addition, more detailed studies will help establish the causes of the shipwreck.
