Behind the Scenes of a Growing Threat: Are European Armies Ready for a New War?
In the new episode of the "Military Chronicle" program on Baku TV, the modern military-technological challenges faced by European armies are analyzed, as well as the necessity of creating a unified response mechanism to new threats.
It is noted that the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Chief of the Air Staff of the Royal Air Force of Great Britain, Air Chief Marshal Sir Johnny Stringer, identified among the main priorities for European armies cheap and mass-produced drones, interceptors, deep precision strike capabilities, electronic warfare, and air defense against long-range missiles.
It is emphasized that, although Europe has powerful armies, a developed defense industry, and significant financial capabilities, an operational decision-making mechanism that unites these resources based on a single operational plan has not yet been established. The idea of a "Single European Army" has been discussed for many years, however, issues of sovereignty, financial distribution, defense contracts, and command structure hinder this process.
The program's author notes that modern wars can no longer be won by relying exclusively on expensive tanks, fighter jets, and missiles. Mass-produced small strike and reconnaissance drones are deployed into combat faster, their losses are easier to replenish, and their constant use allows for continuously overwhelming the enemy's defenses.
Furthermore, the effectiveness of precision strikes on targets deep within enemy territory directly depends on the timely detection of targets, confirmation of their coordinates, and the prompt guidance of strike assets. At the same time, electronic warfare systems, air defense, and digital target designation are becoming of decisive importance in modern combat operations.
