A dangerous toxin was found in Nestle baby food: a batch weighing almost 10 tons was destroyed in Armenia
A batch of NAN brand baby food produced by Nestle weighing 9.7 tons was declared unsafe in Armenia and destroyed.
As reported by TASS, this was announced by the press service of the country's Food Safety Inspection Body.
"The batch of NAN brand baby food produced by Nestle, declared unsafe, was destroyed under the strict supervision of the Inspection Body's staff. The reason, according to the results of a laboratory examination obtained from the Russian Federation, is the risk of possible presence of a dangerous toxin in batches of dry instant milk and fermented milk formulas for baby food. <...> A decision was made to destroy the batch weighing approximately 9,700 kg (9.7 tons)," the Inspection Body's statement on its Facebook page reads.
As previously reported, Nestle announced a recall in 25 countries of several batches of baby food, including SMA, BEBA, and NAN infant formulas, due to the possible presence of harmful bacteria and a toxin that causes nausea and vomiting. At the same time, Nestle claims that no cases of contamination or symptoms associated with any of the recalled products have been confirmed so far.
