Trump: Agreement between the US and Iran could be signed as early as today
An agreement between the US and Iran could be signed as early as the evening of April 20, American President Donald Trump stated.
This was reported by Fox Business.
"The deal will be signed tonight," he believes.
Earlier that day, he told the New York Post that the American delegation led by Vice President JD Vance was already flying to Islamabad for negotiations with Iran. According to Trump's assessment, both sides are set on negotiations, and apparently "nobody is playing games" at the moment.
Trump also stated that he is ready to meet with the Iranian leadership if necessary. "If they want to meet, we have very capable people. But it's no problem for me to meet with them myself," the president said.
He reminded that the US has one unconditional demand — Tehran's renunciation of obtaining nuclear weapons. At the same time, Trump continued that Iran can prosper if the sides manage to reach an agreement. Trump assured that the US is in contact with the "right people" in the Iranian leadership.
Military operations between the US and Iran were suspended on April 7, and Israel also ceased strikes. The ceasefire expires on April 22.
