The most dangerous type of coffee for dental health has been named
According to Cho, coffee contains tannins that stain enamel. This effect is especially noticeable in people with more porous enamel — pigments penetrate its structure more easily, causing teeth to darken faster.
Mark Wolff added that the beverage also negatively affects enamel due to its acidity. The acidic environment gradually weakens its structure, increasing the risk of cavities and tooth sensitivity. Additionally, coffee can cause dry mouth, and a lack of saliva promotes plaque buildup and bacterial growth.
Of particular danger, the specialists emphasized, is coffee with added sugar. Sugar serves as a food source for bacteria, which in the process of their activity produce acids. These acids further soften and destroy enamel, intensifying the harmful effects of the beverage.
