Will you get brain cancer if you put your phone under your pillow: scientists' answer
The habit of placing a smartphone under the pillow often causes concern, but modern research does not confirm any serious danger of this behavior.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to scientific data and international studies, no direct link has been found between mobile phone use and the development of brain cancer. Nevertheless, experts note that the proximity of the gadget can negatively affect sleep quality.
Smartphones do indeed emit radio frequency waves, but this is non-ionizing radiation that does not damage DNA and does not cause mutations. According to foreign experts, including representatives of oncological organizations, the energy level of such waves is too low to harm the body. Moreover, maximum radiation occurs during calls, while in standby mode the device's impact is minimal.
Major studies, including the international INTERPHONE project and reviews by the U.S. National Cancer Institute, have not identified a consistent link between phones and brain tumors. At the same time, scientists acknowledge that long-term effects still require study, so observations are continuing.
Separately, experts draw attention to the smartphone's impact on sleep. As researchers note, the mere presence of a phone nearby can be distracting and interfere with relaxation. As a result, people check notifications more often, which delays falling asleep and worsens the quality of rest.
Experts advise, whenever possible, not to keep the phone in bed and to leave it at a distance in order to reduce its impact on sleep patterns.
