The opening of the Nizami Ganjavi National Pedagogical University took place in Tashkent
On August 23, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the opening ceremony of the Nizami Ganjavi National Pedagogical University in Tashkent.
As reported by BAKU.WS, the heads of state first cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the higher educational institution.
President Ilham Aliyev and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev planted a tree in the university courtyard.
The heads of state of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan were informed about the history of the Nizami Ganjavi National Pedagogical University and the conditions created there.
The Tashkent Pedagogical Institute was established in 1935 on the basis of the Pedagogical Faculty of the Central Asian State University. In 1947, the educational institution was renamed the Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute named after Nizami, and since 1998, the institute has continued its activities as the Tashkent State Pedagogical University named after Nizami.
Among the university's graduates are many outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of literature, culture, science, and public life in Uzbekistan.
The university's structure includes 6 higher pedagogical schools, as well as one joint higher educational school and a master's degree department. The university has 33 departments in total. Training at the university is carried out in 38 specialties at the bachelor's level and 31 specialties at the master's level. The university, which employs 730 faculty members and research-pedagogical staff, has more than 17,000 students, including 6 citizens of Azerbaijan studying as undergraduate students, master's students, and independent researchers. At the same time, 250 people from 13 countries around the world continue their studies here.
The application of international educational programs holds a special place at the university. The educational institution has established close cooperation with 15 international educational organizations and 127 universities from 20 countries around the world, as well as with UNESCO and UNICEF. Twelve joint educational programs are being implemented here. Additionally, 4 international educational and cultural centers operate here — Azerbaijani, Kazakhstani, South Korean, and Chinese.
The Nizami Ganjavi National Pedagogical University has signed memorandums of understanding with the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Baku Slavic University, Baku State University, Azerbaijan University of Languages, Mingachevir State University, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, and Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction. Within the framework of this cooperation, joint scientific research and international conferences are conducted, educational and scientific experience is exchanged, and cultural and educational ties are developed. As part of the cooperation with our country, the first 5 graduates of the Mirza Ulugbek Full Secondary School No. 1 in the city of Fuzuli were granted the right to study at this university on a grant basis.
The construction of a new university campus on a 40-hectare plot is underway on the territory of "New Tashkent." The project envisions the creation of academic buildings with a total capacity of 20,000 people, as well as student dormitories for 5,000 people. The new campus will house the Nizami Ganjavi Museum and the university's historical museum.
The heads of state met with the teaching staff and students of this educational institution and spoke with them.
