Swiss scientists have found a way to slow down aging
A study published in Nature Aging journal has revealed an effective way to slow down the body's aging processes.
The large-scale DO-HEALTH study, which lasted for three years, involved more than 2,000 healthy people aged 70 and above. The study participants received various combinations of vitamin D, omega-3, and performed strength exercises.
In a new analysis, scientists focused on studying 777 Swiss participants, predominantly women (59%). The average age of volunteers was 75 years.
The most impressive results were shown by the group taking omega-3: they demonstrated significant slowdown in cellular aging. The effect was particularly noticeable in people with initially low omega-3 levels.
The comprehensive approach, including omega-3 supplementation, vitamin D, and regular physical exercise, demonstrated a slowdown in aging rates by 1-4%, equivalent to extending life by 3-4 months over the three-year study period.
