Scientists named a diet that eliminates insomnia in just one day

American researchers have discovered that just one day of healthy eating can significantly improve sleep quality. According to a new study, people who eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day fall asleep faster and wake up less frequently during the night.
The experiment involved 34 healthy individuals (average age - 28 years). For several days, they recorded their diet in a special application, while their sleep was tracked using trackers. Scientists evaluated sleep fragmentation - the frequency of night awakenings and transitions between sleep phases.
It was found that those who ate five or more servings of vegetables and fruits experienced a 16% improvement in sleep quality. Whole grain products also contributed to better sleep, while red and processed meat, on the contrary, worsened sleep.
Scientists attribute this effect to the influence of fiber on the gut microbiome. Beneficial bacteria that feed on plant fibers promote the production of serotonin and melatonin - hormones that regulate sleep.
"It's surprising that such significant changes could be observed in less than 24 hours," noted Dr. Esra Tasali, an expert in sleep medicine from the University of Chicago and co-author of the study.
