Voting on the constitutional referendum has concluded in Kazakhstan
In Kazakhstan, polling stations for the referendum on the draft new constitution closed at 20:00 local time (19:00 Baku time).
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Kazakh media, some polling stations outside the republic continue to accept voters, and the last one, located in San Francisco, USA, will remain operational until the morning of March 16.
According to the latest data from the Central Commission, by 18:00 local time the voter turnout reached 70.91%. The referendum has been officially recognized as valid, as more than 50% of citizens included in the voter rolls participated in the voting.
If approved by citizens in the referendum, the new constitution of Kazakhstan will come into effect on July 1.
