The leadership of ANAS will hold a meeting on the issue of Ramiz Mehtiyev

Ramiz Mehtiyev, due to the acts he committed, cannot remain a full member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

This was stated by ANAS President Isa Habibbayli in a statement to APA.

"We will make the necessary decision. We will convene an academy meeting on this matter in the very near future," he noted.

It should be recalled that by the verdict of the Baku Court on Grave Crimes, former head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehtiyev was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment.

At the hearing chaired by Judge Murad Aslanov, taking into account the defendant's age and health problems, a decision was made to impose a suspended sentence based on Article 70 of the Criminal Code.

According to the verdict, decisions were made to confiscate R. Mehtiyev's property in favor of the state, as well as to submit a recommendation for consideration of the issue of stripping him of his state awards.

Ramiz Mehtiyev held the position of head of the Presidential Administration from 1995 to 2019.
