The path of development that Azerbaijan has demonstrated over the past 20 years is admirable, and the European Union should recognize these achievements of official Baku, as well as develop cooperation.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Oxu.Az, this was stated by former Prime Minister of Belgium Yves Leterme at the event "Southeast Europe and Trans-Caspian Business Summit: Expanding Corridors for Energy and Infrastructure Partnership" being held in Baku.

The politician sharply criticized Europe's dual approach toward Azerbaijan during certain periods.

"On one hand, adopting resolutions that interfere in the country's internal affairs, and on the other hand, asking for help in ensuring energy supply - this is unacceptable. As a European citizen, I feel ashamed that for years we have been trying to 'lecture' Azerbaijan on internal matters, and the next day we ask for increased gas supplies," he emphasized.
