Doctors link skin itching, which often occurs during winter, with possible development of pancreatic cancer.

As BAKU.WS reports, this was announced by The Sun newspaper.

According to the publication, itching caused by pancreatic cancer occurs due to the accumulation of bile salts in the blood because of a tumor blocking the bile ducts and causing jaundice.

Dr. Neville Menezes, in an interview with the publication, emphasized that skin itching lasting more than a month is cause for concern and requires consultation with a specialist.

Pancreatic cancer is known as a "silent killer" due to the lack of obvious manifestations in the early stages, which makes timely diagnosis difficult. This type of malignant tumor is characterized by high mortality: only about seven percent of patients survive for five years after diagnosis.

Doctors also highlight a number of other signs of pancreatic cancer, including persistent pain in the upper abdomen and back, jaundice, weight loss, development of diabetes, and digestive disorders.
