Scientists have made a shocking statement about the possible destruction of Earth
According to scientists' estimates, by the end of the 21st century, the Earth's population may reach a dangerous threshold, placing unprecedented strain on natural systems.
As reported by BAKU.WS citing aif.ru, researchers from Flinders University have concluded that by the 2070s, the number of people on the planet could grow to 12.4 billion. Such a demographic surge, according to experts, could lead to severe depletion of ecosystems and disruption of the natural balance.
Experts emphasize that if current growth rates persist, humanity will face food shortages even for the existing population. According to foreign analysts, without radical changes in land resource management, water supply, energy, and biodiversity protection, sustainable development will be under threat.
The lead author of the study, Corey Bradshaw, noted that the optimal population size from the standpoint of ecological sustainability is approximately 2.5 billion people — a level comparable to the mid-20th century. Scientists urge a reassessment of global consumption patterns and approaches to natural resource use in order to prevent a potential ecological crisis.
