Eating corn directly off the cob can lead to tooth damage, especially if a person has fillings, crowns, or dental bridges. This warning was issued by Russian dentist Anastasia Savkina.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Gazeta.ru, when biting off kernels, the pressure is distributed unevenly, which increases the risk of microcracks, chipped fillings, and damage to prosthetic dental structures. Large fillings and dental bridges are the most vulnerable.

The specialist noted that people with restored teeth should cut the kernels off with a knife and eat them with a fork, and after eating, thoroughly clean the interdental spaces using dental floss, mouthwash, or a water flosser. In addition, the dentist recommended undergoing preventive check-ups at least once every six months.
