Political scientist: Armenia did not intend to voluntarily leave Karabakh

"On the Karabakh issue, there is one single truth: if it were not for the determination of the Leader of Azerbaijan and the love of the Azerbaijani people for their native land, Armenia would under no circumstances have left our territories. If there existed even one, even the most insignificant argument refuting this, then Nikol Pashinyan, who signed the act of capitulation after the Patriotic War, would not have financed the puppet regime, provided it with comprehensive support, and sent congratulatory letters."

This was stated in an interview with BAKU.WS by Doctor of Philosophy in Political Sciences, political analyst Shabnam Hasanova.

According to her, this position is supported by a whole range of weighty arguments:

"The essence of these arguments is that if it were not for the OSCE Minsk Group and the parties patronizing this structure, Azerbaijan would have long ago been able to restore its justice. It was precisely these patrons who justified the crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by Armenia.

There is yet another significant factor. Ruben Vardanyan's arrival in the region was undoubtedly a planned step, and many parties knew about it, including Nikol Pashinyan.

If Armenia had truly wanted to settle this issue, Nikol Pashinyan would not have proclaimed the slogan 'Karabakh is Armenia, period.' That is precisely why Azerbaijan was forced to conduct the operations 'Farrukh' and 'Retribution' — in response to provocations by the remnants of the Armenian army. The Leader of Azerbaijan sought to eradicate separatism in the region once and for all. He worked to definitively consign this issue to the past. After the war, defeated Armenia attempted to once again bring the processes to the international arena through the prism of its own interests, taking steps built on lies."

The political analyst also emphasized that Azerbaijan had sought a peaceful resolution of the conflict for many years:

"Until the very last moment, we remained committed to the negotiation process. However, unfortunately, there were forces operating in the region that sought to change the situation in their favor. Azerbaijan, however, crossed out all these plans. The formula 'New war — new territories' has gone into the past forever. All of this clearly demonstrates that they wanted to keep our lands under occupation. Illegal resettlement was one of the next steps in this direction. Persons of Armenian origin from the Middle East were placed on our occupied territories. This process was supported by major powers and powerful forces. In this way, they sought to legitimize the occupation and make us forget about our land. That is precisely why we must deeply comprehend the essence of our Victory. We are obligated to cherish our history and, without forgetting it, look to the future."
