Taxi driver who fatally hit a student in Baku sentenced

A verdict has been issued for the taxi driver responsible for the death of Aziza Askerova, a student of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University.
As Qafqazinfo reports, the 17-year-old first-year student was hit by a Toyota Prius in November 2023 while crossing the road near the Youth Center on S.S. Akhundov Street in the Binagadi district of the capital.
By the decision of the district court, the driver of the car, E. Safarov (born 1983), was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months in prison.
He will not be able to drive for another two years after serving his sentence.
