On which day of the week surgeries are most dangerous: study shocks

Studies conducted in the USA, Canada, and Europe show that Monday is the safest day for surgical operations.
According to research, specialists note an increased risk of complications and fatal outcomes for operations performed on Friday. Statistics show that patients who undergo surgery at the beginning of the week have a 5% higher chance of survival.
A large-scale study covering more than 40,000 patients demonstrates a 5-6% increase in risks for operations performed on Friday. The risk of fatal outcome increases up to 10%.
Swedish scientists confirmed these findings during studies of patients with esophageal cancer. In Germany, despite the lack of precise data, experts point to the impact of staff shortages and increased workload on weekends on the quality of medical care. Therefore, the beginning of the week is considered a safer period for operations.
