The month of Muharram has begun in Azerbaijan.

As BAKU.WS reports, theologians, based on official calculations from the Nasreddin Tusi Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, have concluded that the first day of this month falls on June 26 according to the Gregorian calendar, and the 10th day of Muharram - the day of Ashura - falls on July 5.

It should be noted that during the month of Muharram, mourning ceremonies are held in connection with the death of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, and members of his family. They were killed in the 61st year according to the Hijri calendar.

The month of Muharram this year will end on July 25.
