Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan addressed the population with a warning

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan has issued an important appeal to citizens regarding the approaching adverse weather conditions in several regions of the country.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the department, according to the National Hydrometeorological Service, in the coming days, residents of the republic can expect capricious weather with precipitation, which will intensify to heavy in some places. Short-term floods and inundations are forecasted on mountain rivers, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds.
In connection with the approaching natural disaster, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds citizens about necessary safety measures:
"To avoid floods and mudflows caused by heavy precipitation, residents of mountainous and foothill areas are strongly advised to remain vigilant, avoid dangerous flood and mudflow zones, and in case of encountering a threat – immediately move to higher ground.
During strong winds, one should keep a safe distance from temporary structures, light constructions, billboards, and not be under power lines, tall trees, and electric poles. Special attention should be paid to following fire safety rules, considering that wind significantly complicates firefighting efforts.
For protection against lightning strikes, it is recommended to disconnect electrical appliances from the network, refrain from telephone conversations in the open air, and not approach power lines, lightning rods, and antennas. Shelter should be sought not under tall trees, but in relatively low places. Motorists during thunderstorms are advised to stop, completely close the windows, and wait out the bad weather.
Additionally, due to the threat of snow avalanches in high mountain areas because of warming against the background of westerly winds, it is strongly recommended to avoid avalanche-prone areas and steep mountain slopes."
