Zelensky explained his unexpected decision regarding Arestovich
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky revealed the reasons for imposing sanctions against a number of individuals and legal entities, including former advisor to the president's office Oleksiy Arestovych. According to the head of state, these measures are related to "propaganda in the interests of Russia." The corresponding statement appeared in his Telegram channel.
Zelensky emphasized that the imposed restrictions are necessary for "synchronizing" pressure on Russia together with sanctions from other countries. The President specifically noted that among those sanctioned are also citizens of Ukraine.
"Of these, 7, unfortunately, have Ukrainian citizenship, who have tied their fate to propaganda in the interests of the Russian state and justify the war, carry out active information operations to the detriment of Ukraine and our defense in the war," Zelensky said.
Recall that earlier the President of Ukraine imposed sanctions against the former advisor to the head of his office, Oleksiy Arestovych. At the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Arestovych was one of the most prominent media personalities of the Kyiv authorities, but later resigned of his own accord and left the country.
