A virus has been found in imported nectarine and peach seedlings.

The Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan has distributed information about the detection of a virus in imported seedlings.

It is reported that as part of control measures, Agency employees took samples of nectarine and peach seedlings imported by "Agro Plant" company from Turkey. As a result of the investigation, the "sharka" virus was detected in the batch of products.

"In connection with the identified fact, a decision was made to remove from the customs territory or destroy 18 thousand nectarine seedlings and 18,240 peach seedlings. Currently, appropriate measures are being taken in accordance with the legislation.

It should be noted that the "sharka" virus causes serious diseases in fruit trees, especially nectarine, peach, plum and cherry. The virus weakens plant development and significantly reduces yield," the message says.
