A new weather radar has been installed in Guba for forecasting heavy rains and hail
A new Doppler weather radar has been installed in the II Nyugedi village of Guba district.
Gulnara Abbasova, Deputy Head of the National Hydrometeorological Service, informed Report about this.
According to her, the weather radar, which is an important element of the early warning system, will allow tracking atmospheric processes and receiving information about hailstorms several hours in advance within a radius of 100-150 km.
"It will also help generate early warnings about possible mudflows and floods on the rivers of the southeastern slope of the Greater Caucasus," she added.
The Deputy Head of the service emphasized that the radar system management will operate in an automated mode.
Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev participated in the opening ceremony of the new weather radar in Guba district.
