A 9-year-old girl died in Baku - why was the ambulance late?

Some details about the cause of death of 9-year-old Zahra Hajiyeva have been revealed.

According to Oxu.az, based on the certificate provided to Zahra Hajiyeva's family by the Malham clinic, the cause of death was intracerebral hemorrhage. The document states that Z.Hajiyeva was admitted to the intensive care unit of the pediatric department on January 28 at 06:00. The death was registered on February 2 at 04:05.

In response to Oxu.az's inquiry about the ambulance delay on the day when Z.Hajiyeva's condition suddenly deteriorated, the Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB) reported that at the time of the call registration in the Sabunchu district, there were many calls, and the crews were busy responding to urgent calls (carbon monoxide poisoning, falls, accidents, etc.).

The statement also notes that on January 27, 2025, at 18:58, the Republican Center for Emergency Medical Care received a call from the Zabrat settlement of Sabunchu district regarding the deteriorating condition of a minor girl.

"At 19:29, the patient's relatives contacted the 103 call center and received consultation about which medical facility the girl should be taken to. Despite the call being registered as a refusal, at 20:09 it was transferred to an available crew. At this time, contact was established with the patient's relatives. The family reported that the girl had been taken to the appropriate medical facility.

On the same day at 20:58, the 103 call center received a call from the Mashtaga settlement hospital at the Sabunchu Medical Center regarding a coma case. The patient was evacuated to the Yasamal Children's Clinical Hospital of the Republican Pediatric Center," the TABIB information states.

Recall that Z.Hajiyeva's mother, Afsana Hajiyeva, told Oxu.az that on January 27 around 18:00, her daughter's condition suddenly deteriorated. The girl's family called an ambulance. They waited 40 minutes, but it didn't arrive, so they took the girl to the hospital themselves. The mother said that if the ambulance had arrived on time, perhaps her child would still be alive.
