Macron will name the new Prime Minister of France: announcement date
French President Emmanuel Macron will announce the name of the country's new prime minister by the evening of October 10. This was reported by the outgoing head of government Sébastien Lecornu, according to Bloomberg.
According to Lecornu, possibilities for reaching a compromise remain in parliament. "An absolute majority in the National Assembly opposes a new dissolution," he noted. Macron instructed Lecornu to negotiate with political forces on the formation of a new cabinet of ministers.
If the new prime minister fails to form a government, the president will have several options: hold parliamentary elections, appoint another prime minister, or resign, although Macron had previously ruled out such a possibility.
On October 6, Sébastien Lecornu resigned as prime minister less than a month after his appointment. As reported, his decision was prompted by sharp criticism of the new government composition, especially from right-wing parties.
