CIS Secretary General: Documents signed in Washington bring peace closer to the Caucasus

The CIS hopes that the documents signed in Washington on August 8 between Azerbaijan and Armenia will serve as the basis for a peace agreement.
As reported by Russian media, this was stated by CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev before the regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Commonwealth member states to the statutory and other CIS bodies.
"Just as we all in the Commonwealth countries welcomed with satisfaction the signing of the treaty on the interstate border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, now we in the Commonwealth countries have received with great satisfaction the signing of this joint declaration. We believe that this is one of the stages on the way to the final settlement of disagreements and the achievement of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia," he said.
