The President of Ukraine stated that the war must be brought to an end

Ukraine will abandon strikes on Russian energy facilities if its partners are ready to ensure Russia's "genuine willingness" not to carry out reciprocal strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on social media platform X.

According to him, Kyiv proposed to its partners (presumably referring to the United States - ed.) to "ensure an agreement with Russia that would stop the destruction of critical infrastructure," including food and energy.

"If partners are ready to ensure Russia's genuine willingness not to strike our electricity sector, other energy facilities, critical infrastructure, and food transportation, then we are, of course, ready to ensure a corresponding abandonment of our strikes.

For this to be reliable, long-term, and have a real effect on people's lives, rather than fall apart after the Russians hold their 'elections' and obtain a reduction of pressure regarding gasoline and diesel fuel specifically for that period," the Ukrainian president noted.

Zelensky stated that "the war must be ended," and the abandonment of strikes on critical infrastructure could become "the first step toward peace." "We expect specifics from our partners," he added.
