Ebola Outbreak in Congo: Number of Infected Exceeds 7,000
In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the number of confirmed Ebola cases has reached 7,022.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to foreign media, this was announced by the DRC authorities.
It is noted that the death toll since the outbreak of the rare "Bundibugyo" virus strain in mid-May has risen to 3,398 people. Currently, 837 people are under quarantine or receiving treatment.
This is already the 17th Ebola epidemic in the DRC, with its epicenter located in the northeastern province of Ituri. The virus has already spread to 7 provinces of the DRC. According to AFP, since the beginning of the new school year, Ebola has been rapidly spreading among schoolchildren, which has increased the burden on medical facilities.
