2,700 delegates from more than 140 countries took part in the UN Climate Week in Baku
Up to 2,700 delegates from more than 140 countries participated in the IV UN Climate Week in Baku.
This was stated in a press release by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry recalled that Azerbaijan organized the IV Climate Week of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at the Baku Congress Center from September 7 to 11, and in parallel — the Baku Climate Action Week.
A total of 68 events were organized during the week, with up to 2,700 delegates from more than 140 countries registered to participate. In addition to delegations from various countries, representatives of international and non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and academia also took part in the events.
During the UNFCCC Climate Week, 8 mandated sessions were held on various areas of the international climate agenda arising from the decisions of the Conference of the Parties, as well as events of the COP30 and COP31 presidencies and a number of sessions within the UNFCCC Executive Forum.
At the Baku Climate Action Week, Azerbaijan organized a total of 37 events in accordance with the Action Agenda of Azerbaijan's COP29 Presidency, as well as on other relevant topics.
In addition, based on the relevant mandate adopted at COP30, consultations were held with the participation of Azerbaijan, Brazil, Turkey, and Australia, holding the presidencies of COP29, COP30, and COP31, within the framework of the Troika mandate "Belém Mission 1.5" on the implementation of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
It should be noted that the host of the UNFCCC Climate Weeks is determined based on the principle of rotation among UN regional groups.
The first of the two UNFCCC Climate Weeks held in 2026 was organized in April of this year in the Republic of Korea (Asia-Pacific region), and the second — in Azerbaijan (Eastern European region).
